On the New Old Path – The Last Decade of the Festival

To mark the 30th anniversary of the festival, we will present a retrospective exhibition showcasing festival and festival-related visual creativity from the last decade. On display will be festival posters and concert photographs from 2015 to 2024 – ranging from various versions of the festival’s visual identities and concert photography to accompanying content and the people who (co)create this unique musical event in Cerkno. The exhibition will highlight the distinctive features of the festival’s last decade: traces of the past and continuity, key moments of transition, and the shifts and innovations that have emerged during this period. The photographs have been contributed by festival photographers, while the posters were created by the designers responsible for the festival’s visual identity over the past decade. Why did we choose to hold the exhibition outdoors? Because Jazz Cerkno is also an outdoor festival, known for its relaxed and authentic atmosphere that brings together new and old sounds every year. The opening of the outdoor exhibition will also feature an outdoor concert, with the Slovenian-Italian duo Marko Lasič and Yannis Maizan performing in Gabriel’s backyard.
