Our traditional music workshop for children, which has been part of the festival for over 15 years, will once again take an unconventional approach this year. Participants will venture into a world of sound beyond the limits of human hearing. Using a specialized device, they will translate electromagnetic pulses emitted by plants and objects into audible frequencies and transform them into sound compositions. During the workshop, the young participants will learn the basic principles behind the device, as well as methods of recording, shaping, and creating music from unconventional sources. This year’s workshop brings together art, technology and science, encouraging children to explore sound beyond what we can hear. Blaž Celarec (Brina, bands led by Severa Gjurin, Chris Eckman and Steve Wynn, among others) is one of Slovenia’s most sought-after drummers and percussionists. Petra Vidmar is a professor of percussion at the Academy of Music and a soloist in the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra.
