This time, Keltika’s concert series presents two bands: the Kristijan Krajnčan Quartet with prominent Slovenian musicians of the middle generation, and the duo Ana Kravanja & Martin Küchen, which brings together a Slovenian multi-instrumentalist, best known as a member of the Širom trio, and a Swedish saxophonist known from the band Angles. Kristijan Krajnčan is the leader of the quartet and the author of all the songs on the album Med se iskrí v temí (Honey Sparks In The Dark); he was inspired by “two moments: the unusually inspiring taste of honey and the look of a homeless man whose eyes sparkle”. After the album Zabučale gore with his renditions of Slovenian folk songs, which he released under the name DrummingCellist, Krajnčan continues to connect Slovenian traditional music and jazz in the form of a quartet. The new duo will bring together Ana Kravanja, who, in addition to the viola, also masters a string of traditional and classical instruments, and Martin Küchen, a saxophonist with an extremely wide stylistic and sonic range. Kravanja has collaborated with international musicians such as Tijana Stanković and Elisabeth Harnik. The Swedish saxophonist has been a regular guest on our stages for many years (bands Trespass Trio, Angles, All Inclusive), and has also played with our musicians (Tomaž Grom, Samo Kutin, etc.).
The Ana Kravanja & Martin Küchen concert is a co-production with the Sploh Institute as part of the Razsrediščenja concert series.
