Part of this year’s exhibition Soundscape of Cerkno, the result of many years of sound workshops The Cerkno Sound Safari, led by Boštjan Perovšek, will also come to life at a concert. With the help of two experienced jazz musicians and improvisers, Perovšek will present sound materials from the exhibition (from the sounds of cultural heritage, i.e. old handicrafts and farm chores, to the modern urban environment) to live music, which will also be subject to manipulation. “The sound slices of recorded soundtracks and live electroacoustics will be combined with the raw and electroacoustically processed sounds of trumpets, drums and percussion,” as the artists themselves wrote.
Musician and composer Boštjan Perovšek is known for his experimental and electroacoustic music, and his specialty is bioacoustic music, which is based on the sounds of animals, mostly insects. He is also active as a composer for films, theatre, performances, and multimedia installations; he creates sound spaces for museum installations and is a member of the pioneering Slovenian group for experimental music SAETA. We know Vid Drašler from many jazz and other ensembles, such as Zmajev rep, Malik, Balžalorsky / Drašler 3o, Orkestrada, Drašler / Karlovčec / Drašler and Oholo! Trumpet player Jaka Hawlina has been active in various musical ensembles (ethno, rock, rap, jazz …), such as Autodafé, Bisergora, Blue Train Quintet and Malamor. In the past he has also collaborated with the bands Videosex and Let 3.
