a four-leaf clover of top musicians in a project that connects almost all genres
The new quartet, whose name (The Concert of Four) alludes to the groundbreaking poetry collection The Poems of Four, brings together four of the most prominent Slovenian artists, who have been active in various projects and as solo artists for decades. They cover an extremely wide range of genres, including jazz, rock, pop and classical, as well as poetry set to music, singer-songwriter, experiments and various traditional music. The idea to form the band came about when they spontaneously started playing their own compositions backstage at a concert. The next day, they realized that they “clicked”, and that the four of them were an interesting mix of diversity, which they describe as a combination of the Rudi Bučar’s folkiness, the exquisite sound of saxophonist Vasko Atanasovski, the Severa Gjurin’s intimate voice and the lyrical playing by guitarist Dejan Lapanja. So far, the quartet has only had a handful of performances, all of them received enthusiastically, since the band performs songs familiar from the repertoires of all four members in new arrangements prepared specifically for this project.
