Belgium-based Gašper Piano has established himself as a versatile creative musician working across composition, improvisation, sound art, and the production of music for dance, theater, and film. In his work with guitar and electronics, he draws on a wider range of styles, which he deconstructs and weaves into abstract sonic structures and electroacoustic environments. Since 2021, he has regularly organized concerts under the title Adder Klank and subtitled “gatherings of spontaneous sound collisions”. At his premiere performance in Cerkno, he will present the latest version of this platform, in which “musicians of different styles, methodologies, and generations connect through listening, responding, experimentation, imagination, and boldness.” For this occasion, he is joined by Tomaž Grom from Zavod Sploh, one of Slovenia’s leading figures in the field of improvisation and experimentation. The quartet also features two prominent musicians from the Portuguese improvisation scene: saxophonist José Lencastre and drummer João Valinho who have collaborated in numerous improvisational ensembles. They both see improvisation as a means of liberation and a challenge to standardized ways of thinking, convinced that such music has transformative and healing powers.
