Janez Ramoveš poetry reading
Uršula Ramoveš puts to music the poetry of his life and musical partner Janez Ramoveš and creates a unique alternative chanson with a touch of folk songs. Janez's poems, written in the Poljanska Valley dialect (for his latest collection, Skuz okn strejlam kurente (Shooting Clowns Thru the Window) he received the prestigious Jenko award in 2012), just recently got a new and impressive sound environment on the new album Talisman. Apart from Janez’s poetry and Uršula’s original music, it also brings some covers of rock and other standards, such as Perfect Day (Lou Reed), Time (Tom Waits), or Lili Marlene, for which Janez wrote his own, modified lyrics. The album brings some changes in the line-up (R. Jukič on bass and guitar, G. Krmac on tuba), as well as in expresiveness, with three singers' close harmony voices being more stressed. The band has played at prominent festivals or concert cycles, such as Jazz Cerkno, Music of the World at Cankarjev dom, or Days of Poetry and Wine. With their concert we start our Keltika festival's rich summer part, and also celebrate the Slovenian Statehood Day.
