This Keltika concert will be co-produced with the Defonija concert series in Ljubljana. We will hear a Norwegian-American band The Young Mothers, led by the esteemed Norwegian bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (The Thing, Atomic). The band was founded by Håker Flaten in 2012 in Texas, Austin, where he found a new home. The sextet, which is praised for its creative music, which is combined from the elements of jazz, grindcore, hiphop, alternative rock and improvisation, is comprised of a number of prominent American musicians, known for their numerous collaborations. The band members have played with leading names not only in the jazz world but also rock, hip hop and innovative music, such as Plutonium Farmers, Free Radicals, Pauline Oliveros, William Parker, Jay-Z, MF DOOM, Peter Brötzmann, Roscoe Mitchell and Thurston Moore. The Young Mothers have released two acclaimed albums and performed at a number of prestigious festivals, such as Saalfelden (Austria), the Jazz Em Agosto (Portugal) or Tampere (Finland). "The Young Mothers closed the last night of Sonic Transmissions with a blistering set of Lone Star free punk that got the old jazz heads out of their chairs and the laconic hipsters moving like interpretive dervishes." (The Wire)

The Young Mothers concert is being prepared in co-production by the Keltika festival and the Defonija concert series. It will be part of triple concert in honour of Defonija’s 20th anniversary; we will also listen to Marco Colonna with a solo performance and the duo Tomaž Grom / Axel Dörner.
