As it has been the tradition, the April's Keltika concerts are marked by jazz - as a reminder of the upcoming, 22nd edition of Jazz Cerkno festival, which will take place between 18th and 20th May. At this April's second jazz concert, also being the last Keltika event before the May festival jazzing we will hear a great trumpeter Igor Matković; he has already performed at our jazz festival, but this time he comes to Cerkno with a new band and new music. The last time we heard Matković in Cerkno was in 2015, when he played with his quartet featuring the pianist Marcin Wasilevski, a longtime associate of the legendary Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko. In his new quintet, our trumpet player pursues similar sound poetry as with the previous quartet: suggestively played ambient, cinematic jazz, interspersed with free improvisation and electronically processed sounds. Matković presented his new music on last year's album State of KU (ZKP RTV Slovenija) and also played at the Ljubljana Jazz Festival. We will introduce this year's Jazz Cerkno festival before the concert, at 7pm at the Cerkno Museum, with the opening of the exhibition "Jazzy-ga! and pupils", with photographs by Žiga Koritnik and his workshop participants. The exhibition is part of the Jazz Cerkno festival and will be on display until 29 May.
